Situated in Drouin, West Gippsland, our clients wanted to bring as much of the beautiful Victorian countryside into their custom build as possible. A family home, its layout also needed to support our client’s lifestyle and growing family needs. Inspired by this, our designers and builders collaborated with Amber Rees Design to create a home that showcases natural light and the stunning surrounding views from every angle possible while still family-friendly.
Bringing the outside in
With an abundance of large windows and VELUX skylights, the home is bathed in natural sunlight during the day. It’s double-glazed windows, ceiling and wall insulation and north-to-north-east orientation also minimise the dependence on electronic climate control. To keep the cooler nights out and give the ultimate flexibility of light, the home is fitted with electronic blinds.
Family-focused home design
The heart of the home is its open-plan living, designed with two wings - one for the children’s bedrooms and another for the main. With in-built sound system, spacious walk-in wardrobe and relaxing spa, the main bedroom is the perfect parent’s retreat. Family meals can be enjoyed in the spacious indoor kitchen - with its concrete-look tiles and visually intriguing spotted gum veneer - or in the timber-lined alfresco. Featuring a fully-functional stainless steel kitchen, it’s an entertainer’s delight.
Creating visual appeal
Showcasing multiple roof pitches, TRIMDEK® roofing and LYSAGHT ENSEAM™ cladding from COLORBOND®, the facade and interior feature bring in a mixture of wood, stone and metal finishes to bring in texture, warmth and visual interest.
